とりあえず仮説を立て、それに基づいて行動する。その一方で、仮説に行動を縛られてしまうことを防ぐためにはどうしたら良いか――タレブは「仮説を肯定する情報ではなく、否定する情報を集めよ」と説いています。人は放っておいても自分に都合の良い情報を集めてしまうものだから、都合の悪い情報を意識的に探していくようにしないといけないわけですね。

仮説に基づいてグイグイと前進する一方で、ウジウジと自己否定を続ける。マトモな人間なら頭がおかしくなってしまいそうですが、だからこそ自分と意見が違う人々と積極的に付き合って、「否定役（もしくは肯定役）」を演じてもらわなければならないのでしょう。また自分が依拠している仮説をできるかぎり多くの人々に知らしめて、反対意見が出やすくするという努力も欠かせないと思います
